Course Information:

Introduction to this course

If you take A Level Accounting as part of your study programme, you will develop your understanding of Accounting for Business organisations. You will learn about the need for accounts and the rules upon which they are based. You will learn how to produce a range of accounting records, such as income statements, balance sheets, ledger accounts and reconciliations. You will learn how to interpret accounting information and how to produce information for management.


Entry Requirements

You will need five GCSEs at grade A* - C, including English and maths.


Career prospects

You can progress to higher Accountancy study programmes such as AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians), other professional qualifications, related subjects at degree level or directly in to employment.


How will I be assessed?

Your progress will be judged through continuous assessment and examinations.

AS Level Units: 1. Introduction to Financial Accounting e.g. Profit & Loss and Balance Sheets. 2. Financial Management Accounting e.g. Ratios to Measure Company Performance


A Level Units: 3. Further Aspects of Financial Accounting e.g. The Accounts of Limited Companies 4. Further Aspects of Managing Accounting e.g. Project Investment Appraisal and Social Accounting


Expenses for this course

Recommended textbook - Approximately £14 a year.



Mode of Study

The AS Level is a one year course and the A Level is a two year course. Enrolment is only in September.
